Link Monitor: how we check your links
What Live, Lost, Redirect, Anchor mismatch and Not indexed mean, and how to report an issue.
Link Monitor lists every link we have placed for you and keeps an eye on it after publication. Open Link Monitor in the top menu to see it.
What you see
At the top, three tiles count your links: Live, Upcoming and Issues. Upcoming are links that are not published yet. Below them you can narrow the list with Project, Domain, Status and Created, and search by URL or anchor.
How we check
Each live link is checked automatically every 30 days. A check loads the page and looks for a link to your target URL. Click Re-check on a link to run a check right away.
What each status means
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Live | Active and reachable. |
| Not indexed | The link is live but not in the Google index. |
| Lost | The link was removed by the publisher. |
| Redirect | The URL has been redirected. |
| Anchor mismatch | The anchor text differs from your order. |
The index status of a new link shows Unknown until the first result is in. We check this in the days after publication, so a new link can look unindexed at first without anything being wrong.
Link Monitor tells you what we found on the page. It cannot tell you why a link is missing or when Google will index it. Use Report issue and we take it from there.
Report an issue with a link
If you see something wrong, click Report issue on the link. Choose what fits best:
- Not indexed in Google
- Link is gone (404 / removed)
- URL has been redirected
- Wrong anchor text
- Was supposed to be follow, but is nofollow
- Other / something else
Add a short description, for example "the link returns 404 since last week", and click Submit report. The tooltip on the button says the report goes to support.
Choose columns
Use Manage columns to show or hide columns, for example the date a link was sent to be indexed.
